The Forgotten Step | Bio-Essence Tanaka White Double Whitening Clarifying Softener

Image
I should have included this in my skincare routine post [here] but I did not. Just as I've written in the title, the forgotten step.

Since I have been diligent with my skincare routine for about a month now, I finally finished this bottle few days ago. Phewh! I wrote a date at the bottom of the bottle, and found out I purchased it about a year ago. That's been too long. It's an on-off thing throughout the year I owned it mainly because I don't like to use toner. I feel like it's not making any difference but it makes my skin even more dry. So I don't see the point of using it.

But I've been really good in using toner after I found out other purposes of toner (obviously after reading Caroline Hirons blog, yes I listen to my guru). She mentioned that we need to have and exfoliating or acid toner and a hydrating toner. I'm so glad I've finally managed to finish this bottle. I haven't been using any toner since this finished and I feel like my skin…

Better Cleanser | Simple Kind to Skin Refreshing Facial Wash Gel

Image
As soon as I found out that foam cleanser is a no-no from Caroline Hirons (yes she is my skincare guru now), I went to Guardian to find a gel cleanser. I'm not sure about oil and milk type of cleanser, so I decided on gel instead. This cleanser does not contain any colour, fragrance - which I prefer, SLS and is soap free. Basic cleanser with no nasties. I have been using this cleanser for a month now. The texture is light and not runny.I take a dollop and rub it between my fingers then massage it on to my dry face. It does not sting my eyes but it does makes my skin feel a little tight in my earlier usage (like all cleansers that I've tried) if I don't use my toner straight away. It removes all my make up traces plus I now use a washcloth to wipe my face clean. Another cleansing method I've learned recently.

This is what Paula's choice said about this cleanser,
"This is an exceptionally basic, yet very gentle, water-soluble cleanser best for normal to dry skin …

Desert Island Foundation | Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation

Image
I knew about the existence of this foundation from one of Lisa Eldridge's video. Then I saw it from Pixiwoo foundation related videos and they mentioned that it is a good dupe for Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation that I have been wanting to try! So when my best friend went to UK last two years Christmas, I just had to ask her to help buy it for me.

When I first tried this foundation about over a year ago, it was LOVE. SUPER LOVE. Ever since, I only use this foundation for those special days. And events. This foundation gives a very natural look, look even better after hours wearing it. I don't need concealer to cover redness around my nose area, and if I do, it'd be just to cover blemishes. It IS that good! I want to keep it for as long as I could but we all know, for hygienic purposes that is not possible.
Shade: 53, Light Beige/ Beige Clair (slightly darker on me, has yellow undertone) Texture: Light and runny Fragrance: Subtle hint of fruity scents - from the ingredien…

Since I'm such a skincare obsess now, I want to share with you my skincare wishlist. These two brands are definitely among the higher ends especially in the UK.

CHANEL OMBRES MATELASSEES CHARMING EYESHADOW PALETTE

Perfect neutral palette. It does not have a lot of shades which somehow a newbie like me prefer since I can't match colours in the bigger palette. *wails* As much as I love bigger palettes, it hardly get any used from me. They are really pretty to look at especially the Urban Decay naked palettes. (They have the third one out already and I haven't buy any yet!). Anyway, the pigmentation is great too. From what I read, Chanel eyeshadow is not as good as the Dior ones (I need to get their neutral quads soon!) but this is a better version now.

CHANEL POWDER BLUSH IN No.84 ACCENT
While I was looking for reviews for Charming eyeshadow palette, I saw this blush and thought it was a perfect combination. Although I'm a little disappointed with the blush when I have it as it actually has gold shimmer in it. It's good that you don't need to use a highlighter anymore, but the fine shimmer goes everywhere on your face when yo…

Haul | FeelUnique Sale

Image
I can't remember how and when I found out about this site. But I have always tempted to buy stuffs from them. Luckily I waited for Christmas Day to finally place an order because they gave Luxury beauty free gifts which I'm really excited about! It includes Benefit They're Real Mascara (in my Benefit wish list), Eve Lom TLC cream, Bare Minerals Big & Bright eyeliner in Espresso and Antiac Purity Clear face wash.

I bought Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant (apparently we have Elizabeth Arden at Hua Ho Yayasan), Burt's Bees Baby Bee Sweet Memories gift sets for my daughter Amni and niece Sofea, BrushSoClean Conditioning Brush Cleanser for my makeup brushes obviously, and Real Techniques Sam's Pick collection which unfortunately sold out. They emailed me about it and they kindly refunded the amount. I was looking forward to try their most-praised Buffing brush. Bummer!
I experienced something rather new with our postal service. Maybe because I haven…

Haul | Sofina 2.1

Image
I finally get my hands on Vivy's inspired bag, the Sofina. I have been reading her blog for years now, before Fashion Valet even exist. That's about more than 2 years already I think. I missed my chance on their first Sofina which I prefer because it does not have the studs. Not really a studs fan but the colour caught my attention. I also bought a black plain top and a notebook. Delivery was fast as usual from the reliable DHL people. Not going to buy more unless they are going to produce the non-studded ones and maybe, a shoulder bag version of it. I don't mind the handheld/ arm-held? but having babies now, I much prefer a shoulder bag so the additional sling is really nice to have.

Don't forget to check their website tomorrow if you missed you chance to get it last time.

Skincare Matter

I mentioned before that I want to add new products to my skincare routine. I meant it and I researched for it which led me to Caroline Hirons. She's a skincare expert and also, beauty blogger. And apparently, my favourite beauty bloggers (I only started reading their blogs few months ago) are also avid readers of Caroline Hirons's blog. Ok, in short I am a skincare obsess at the moment.

According to Caroline Hirons, this is what our skincare routine should be like; Cleanse your face with a good non-foaming cleanser (oil/balm/gel - no mineral oil and no fairy liquid).Exfoliate with an acidic toner.Spray hydrate.Apply a light water-based serum to target specific skin conditions (ageing, pigmentation, scarring/dehydration etc) if that is a concern.Apply either a moisturiser (am) or a facial oil (pm) designed for your skin type.(points taken directly from Caroline Hirons's blog here).
So for the past weeks I have been reading her blog. Going through all my favourite bloggers'…

2014 The Year of Self Improvement

Image
I had a great New Year celebration with my family yesterday. We spent our day mostly at home - doing the never-ending house chores :P and later in the afternoon, we went to Mangrove Paradise 'resort'. I'm really happy seeing Iqbal enjoying himself in the pool. Of course, daddy was there too and his uncles and aunties. His first swim was on Christmas Day and since then, he's been wanting to have another swimming sesh. We bought him a swimming suit recently hence the excitement. ;) Baby Amni had her afternoon nap when we were there. Very laid back that girl!

I have been trying to think of new resolutions for this year. Is it better to have a monthly resolution or weekly, or daily even (this is too much already!)? Last year's resolutions was not even close to half being a success. -__- So this year, the ones I could think of on top of my head this morning was,
1. to get a driving license (finally!!! at the age of 27!!!)
2. to improve myself at work - Alhamdulillah I f…
